What is an Agent Introduction and how do I prepare for it?

The Agent Introduction is an optional add-on available when you order a Video Tour. It’s a great way to appear on camera, introduce yourself, and highlight the home for prospective buyers.

How it Works

An Agent Introduction typically follows this structure:

  1. Intro (on camera): A short greeting where you introduce yourself, mention a few standout features, and invite the viewer into the home. Example: “Hi! I’m Jane Doe with Open Homes Realty. Today I’m at my newest listing at 123 Main Street in Berkeley. This 4-bedroom home has amazing Bay views. Let’s go take a look!”
  2. "Mid-Bit" or voiceover segment: Make an appearance in another area of the home, highlighting the newly renovated kitchen or balcony with city views. Or, this could be a brief voiceover in the middle of the video. You can cover any features or selling points you’d like, but we recommend keeping it to 30 seconds or less (about 3–5 sentences). To keep the viewer's attention, shorter is usually better!
  3. Outro (on camera): A closing message thanking viewers and inviting them to connect with you. Example: “Thanks so much for joining me here at 123 Main Street. Please reach out if you have any questions—I hope to see you at the open house!”

Tips & Best Practices

  • Come prepared. Have a clear outline of what you’d like to say before filming so everything runs smoothly on site. A full script isn’t required, but it can be helpful.
  • Keep it concise. Even with lots to say about the home, shorter introductions maintain viewer attention.
  • Add variety. You’re welcome to appear on camera multiple times (e.g., in the kitchen or on the balcony) if you’d like a more dynamic presentation.
  • Dress for camera. Solid colors generally look best. Avoid stripes and tight patterns, which can create visual distractions.
  • On-site support. Our Visual Artist will guide you through the process and provide last-minute pointers before filming.

Recording Your Own Voiceover

We strongly recommend recording your voiceover with our Visual Artist on site. This ensures the best audio quality, gives our Visual Artist a chance to offer real-time suggestions on your script and performance, and allows us to edit smoothly without extra back-and-forth. If you plan to do a voiceover, please come prepared with what you’d like to say so we can capture it during filming.

If you don’t have time during the shoot, we understand. In that case, you can record your own voiceover and send it to us. Please note that audio quality may not be as polished as what we capture on site.

How to Record on an iPhone:

  1. Open the Voice Memos app (comes pre-installed).

  2. Record in a quiet, furnished space with soft surfaces to minimize echo—carpeted rooms work best. Avoid recording in your car; it may seem quiet, but it typically creates a “boxy,” unnatural tone.

  3. Hold the phone about 6–8 inches from your mouth and speak clearly.

  4. Keep the recording under 30 seconds (about 3–4 sentences).

  5. When finished, tap the Share icon and email the file to your Open Homes contact.

Tip: Reading from a script is fine—just try to sound natural and conversational.
