Why do the windows look bright or overexposed in my video?
At Open Homes, we take pride in producing some of the highest-quality real estate videos in the industry. However, there are natural limitations when filming interior spaces that can affect how windows appear on video.
Video vs. Photography
Bright or “blown out” windows occur because video cameras can capture only a limited range of light compared to still photography. In photos, we often use HDR (High Dynamic Range), which combines multiple exposures to show both bright outdoor views and properly lit interiors. Video cannot replicate this process in real time.
Balancing Interior and Exterior Exposure
We aim to balance exposure so both the interior and exterior are visible, but it’s not a perfect process. In some shots, the interior may appear slightly dark, or the outdoor view may still look very bright.
Showing the Views
Whenever possible, we include additional shots near windows or exterior angles to highlight the home’s outdoor views and surrounding features. These help ensure buyers can still see everything the property has to offer.
